Soldiers from 1st Battalion (Airborne) 509th Infantry Regiment, Joint Readiness Training Center, walk with the team mentour, at the Weapons Assembly and Fire events during the United States Army Forces Command Best Squad Competition at Fort Campbell, Kentucky Aug. 14, 2023. Instructions for the task were to assemble and perform a functions check on an M17 semi-automatic pistol, M4 carbine, M249 Squad Automatic Weapon, M240 Squad Automatic Weapon, and M110A1 Squad Designated Marksman Rifle. Team members are timed as they remove mismatched weapon parts from a box, and between all of the team members, assemble the weapons and successfully complete a weapons check before firing that weapons system during the following range tasks.
