CAMP LEMONNIER, Djibouti, (August 16, 2023) Mara Karlin, Ph.d, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Strategies, Plans, and Capabilities, receives brief on Camp Lemonnier’s facilities from U.S. Navy Cmdr. Sandranell Moerbe, Camp Lemonnier’s Public Works officer, August 16. Karlin is performing the Duties of Deputy Under Secretary of Defense and met with U.S. Africa Command leadership and Djiboutian President Ismail Omar Guellah to discuss regional security and enhance U.S.-Djiboutian relations. CLDJ is an operational installation that enables U.S., allied, and partner nation forces to be where and when they are needed to ensure security in Europe, Africa, and Southwest Asia.
