A CH-47 Chinook assigned to the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division prepares for takeoff during an air assault mission as part of Culminating Training Exercise - Falcon Giant on Fort Liberty, N.C., Aug. 19, 2023. The air assault mission consisted of Paratroopers assigned to the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division loading onto five UH-60 Black Hawks and four CH-47 Chinooks en route to an assaulting element. Falcon Giant is a brigade-level validation exercise designed to measure readiness and lethality prior to attending the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) on Fort Johnson, La., formerly known as Fort Polk.
