Belgian citizens can be seen gathered around vintage U.S. armored vehicles and mingling with members of the NATO armed forces in The Grand-Place in Mons, Belgium, the city center during the 79th Liberation Anniversary of Mons on August 27th, 2023, an event held annually in remembrance of the city's liberation by the U.S. Army in 1944. Soldiers from the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division brought a Bradley fighting vehicle to be included in this year's procession, a 40 kilometer route that retraces the path American soldiers took to liberate the city.
