JOINT BASE CAPE COD, Mass. – Competitors in the 2023 Massachusetts National Guard, Best Warrior Competition compete in the 12-mile ruck, the final event of the competition. Leading the way from start to finish was Spc. Conor Gorman from the 110th Maintenance Company. Gorman finished the event in 1:58:01, minutes ahead of the next competitor. The Best Warrior Competition pits Soldiers and NCOs in a contest with each other to earn the right of Soldier and NCO of the year. Winners of the competition will earn the right to compete at a regional best warrior competition, with the chance to earn a bid to the National Best Warrior Competition. Events like the Best Warrior build Esprit de corps among units and throughout the Massachusetts National Guard.
The Massachusetts National Guard’s 2023 Best Warrior Competition is almost complete. Over the three-day competition, the best Soldiers and Airmen of the Massachusetts National Guard will be pitted against one another to see who is the most competent and effective in their basic Soldier tasks and training.
