U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District Fueling Systems Mandatory Center for Expertise (POL-MCX) engineer, Adam Nebelsick, pauses for a photo during performance verification testing of the newly installed Type III Hydrant Fueling System, pumphouse, and tanks. at Ellsworth Airforce Base, South Dakota.
The Type III Hydrant Fueling System supports the planning and execution of combat ready B-1B aircrews for worldwide tasks, including conventional operations and power projection. This project provides aboveground operating storage tanks, an enclosed Type III Hydrant pumphouse with control room, connection piping, and isolation valve vaults. It will tie into the existing hydrant loop and allow flexibility for each hydrant fueling system to operate independently or serve as back-up, should one system fail or require maintenance. The new system will meet operational, mission, life safety and environmental requirements, as well as being reliable and easily maintainable.
