AURORA, Co. (August 28, 2023) Commanding Officer, Cmdr. John “Freeride” Coombs and Sailors from Navy Talent Acquisition Group Rocky Mountain pose with an artifact from the USS Arizona (BB-39) transported to Denver today courtesy of United Airlines. The crate consists of steel from the USS Arizona from Pearl Harbor, HI, to be permanently housed at the Colorado Freedom Memorial facility. In the background, names of all Coloradans who have either been killed or missing in action during our nation's conflicts are etched in glass at the Colorado Freedom Memorial. There are 32 Coloradans remains on the USS Arizona, with a total of 41 from Colorado killed at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. For these fallen heroes, this will likely be the closest to a dignified transfer they will ever receive.
Navy Recruiting Command consists of a command headquarters, two Navy Recruiting Regions, and 26 Navy Talent Acquisition Groups that serve more than 815 recruiting stations worldwide. Their combined goal is to attract the highest quality candidates to assure the ongoing success of America’s Navy. (U.S. Navy photo by Public Affairs Specialist Matthew Wheeler/Released)
