A Group 3 medium unmanned aerial surveillance vehicle (AeroVironment JUMP 20) takes flight from an airfield at an Arcane Thunder 23 (AT23) training site in Poland, Aug. 29, 2023. The JUMP 20 UAS allows operators to conduct long-range reconnaissance and surveillance operations without the use of a runway through the integration of vertical takeoff and landing technology. Validation of technology during AT23, an exercise series of the U.S. Army’s Project Convergence campaign, sets to evaluate the progress of the service’s modernization efforts through continuous integration of effects in various domains, including air, land, sea, space, and cyberspace.
