The multipurpose amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7), front, the amphibious dock landing ship USS Gunston Hall (LSD 44) and the amphibious transport dock ship USS New York (LPD 21) are underway in formation during a transit of the Atlantic Ocean. Iwo Jima, the flagship of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group with the embarked 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, is currently deployed to support maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of responsibility.
