U.S. Army soldiers with the 84th Engineer Battalion, 130th Engineer Brigade, 8th Theater Sustainment Command and Indonesian National Armed Forces Army 2nd Marine Engineer Battalion construct a road during Super Garuda Shield 23 at Puslatpur, Indonesia, Aug. 2023. Service members are constructing the road in order to facilitate bi-lateral training during Super Garuda Shield 23. The road is 1.7 Kilometers long by 5 meters wide, and will ease transportation for Indonesian National Armed Forces tanks getting the range and surrounding civilians at Pulatpur. The road was constructed to build community relations, and to connect the main military post to the tank firing range. Garuda Shield is a bilateral exercise between the Indonesian National Armed forces and the U.S. military. The exercise provides unique opportunities for participating forces to increase interoperability and provide tangible benefits for the people of the Indonesia. #SuperGarudaShield 2023 is an annual exercise that has significantly grown in scope and size since 2009. #SGS2023 is the second consecutive time this exercise has grown into a combined and #joint event, highlighting the 6 participating and 12 observing nations’ commitment to #partnership and a #freeandopenindopacific.
