230905-M-VB101-1109 ARABIAN GULF (Sept. 5, 2023) A U.S. Marine with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) backs a Light Marine Air-Defense Integrated System into a CH-53E Super Stallion in preparation for departure to Red Sands Live Effects 23.2, a counter-small Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-sUAS) exercise hosted by Saudi Arabia, aboard amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5), Arabian Gulf, Sept. 5, 2023. The Red Sands Integrated Experimentation Center concept and live effects exercises provide unique training opportunities for allies and partners across the region to develop and train their forces and systems to counter growing UAS threats by proving developing technologies in a real-world, challenging environment. Components of the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group and the 26th MEU are deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations to help ensure maritime security and stability in the Middle East region.
