230812-N-LZ409-2011 KEKAHA, Hawai‘i (August 12, 2023) A meteor passes above Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF), Barking Sands, during the Perseid meteor shower. The Perseid meteor shower usually peaks in August and, over the course of an hour, a person watching a clear sky from a dark location might see as many as 100 meteors. PMRF is the world’s largest instrumented multi-domain range capable of supporting surface, subsurface, air and space operations simultaneously.
