U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Kyle Duero, left, and Pfc. Collandra Howard, bulk fuel specialists, 7th Engineer Support Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group, combine hoses at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, Aug. 30, 2023. Sgt. John Evans, a bulk-fuel specialist, with 7th ESB, 1st MLG, designed a device enabling a single Marine to safely stow and unreel water and fuel hoses during field operations, alleviating the traditional requirements of a four-person team. Evans, a native of Union Star, Missouri, designed the reel to significantly improve safety, efficiency, and meet the demands of the field environment. Howard is a native of Dallas, Texas; Duero is a native of Prince William County, Virginia. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Nataly Espitia)
