    U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. David Gordon Jr., F-35B Lightning II powerline mechanic, Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron 501, Marine Aircraft Group 31, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, runs through water during the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) Lane event for the Corporals Course culminating event at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, South Carolina, Sept. 1, 2023. The IED Lane tested Marines’ ability to navigate through adverse terrain while avoiding IEDs, transporting gear and performing casualty evacuation. Corporals Course is a month-long professional military education program that develops Marines’ small unit leadership skills and continues to prepare them to lead Marines.
