Washington National Guard Soldiers and Airmen with the 10th Homeland Response Force Command and Control Element (C2) receive a convoy brief during a limited-notice deployment readiness exercise to the Thurston County Emergency Management Department at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., Sept. 6, 2023. The C2 staff received an alert to mobilize, deploy, and establish an expeditionary mission command post able to support civil authorities. The 10th HRF mission is comprised of Guardsmen with 96th Troop Command and the 141st Air Refueling Wing, and is tasked with identifying, training, and maintaining a deployable force ready to respond in the event of a catastrophic CBRN, or all-hazard event within FEMA Region 10.
