Sgt. Andres Diaz with the 1-87th Infantry Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (LI) takes the first step on the change over from vertical to horizontal walk. Combined Training Exercise Rhodope 23 is hosted by the Bulgarian Land Forces, 101st Alpine Regiment in Smolyan, Bulgaria. This year, the exercise is comprised of U.S. Army Soldiers of the 1-87th Infantry Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (LI), as well as Soldiers from the Italian Army and the Army of the Czech Republic. Combined Exercise Rhodope 23 is a Mountain Warfare training exercise which trains tactics and procedures in Mountain areas, survivability, mobility, and sustainability at the Company level.
