U.S. Army Reserve Capt. Sarah Beard, U.S. Army Sgt. Sagen Maddalena and Mary Tucker win the Gold Medal in the Women’s Team 50m Three-Position Rifle (or Smallbore) event at the 2023 International Shooting Sports Federation World Championship was held in Baku, Azerbaijan, Aug. 14 - Sept. 1. Beard is assigned to the U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program, and is also an alumna of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit. Maddalena is a 2020 Olympian who is assigned to the USAMU International Rifle Team and hails from Groveland, California. Tucker is also a 2020 Olympian and represents USA Shooting. All three marksmen competed at the World Championships as representatives for USA Shooting.
These three U.S. athletes secured not only the Gold Medal, beating out teams from China and Norway, but they set a new world record with their combined score of 1774-102x.
