An U.S. flag flying at half-staff is reflected in the marble panels of the USS Oklahoma Memorial during a ceremony Dec. 7, 2012, at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. The event marked the fifth anniversary of the memorial's dedication and the 71st anniversary of the surprise Japanese attack on U.S. military forces in Hawaii. The day after the attack, before a joint session of Congress, President Franklin D. Roosevelt asked for a declaration of war against Japan and the U.S. officially entered World War II. Four hundred twenty-nine Sailors and Marines died when the Oklahoma capsized during the attack. (U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Jon Dasbach/Released)
