Elastostema Calcareum, also known as Tupun Ayuyu, is prepared to be transported during a butterfly host plant out planting on Marine Corps Base Camp Blaz, Sept. 25, 2023. The out planting took place at the base’s protected forest enhancement area with more than 2,500 host plants being planted for the endangered Mariana eight-spot butterfly. A team of partners participated in the event from a variety of organizations such as the Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit, Guam Department of Agriculture Division of Forestry, and Marines from Camp Blaz.
