U.S. Army Paratroopers assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, load Infantry Squad Vehicle (ISV) during air assault during Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) Rotation 23-10 on the Avelino Drop Zone, near Fort Johnson, L.A., Sept. 22, 2023. The purpose of an air assault is direct combat insertion, as opposed to being transported through the vicinity of combat. During the air assault soldiers prove that they are equipped with both the knowledge and tactical gear to move at night.
