County of Maui Water Supply officials refill a 500-gallon water buffalo provided by the Department of Water Supply on Sep. 26, 2023. The water buffaloes are stationed at various locations around Lahaina to provide potable water to the residents, volunteers, and U.S. Army National Guard Soldiers who are working within the affected area in Lahaina.
In support of Maui County authorities, JTF-50, composed of the Hawaii Army and Air National Guard, U.S. Army Active Duty, U.S. Army Reserve, and U.S. Navy, is dedicated to the safety and recovery of affected Maui residents, coordinating with local first responders, and adhering strictly to local, state, and federal guidelines and laws.
