Boatswain's Mate 1st Class Forrest McDaniel, assigned to USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7), greets his family during a homecoming celebration. The multipurpose amphibious assault ship returned to Naval Station Norfolk following a regularly scheduled deployment to the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility. The homecoming marks the end of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group's deployment, where its ships supported Operation Enduring Freedom, Exercises African Lion, Eager Lion and International Mine Countermeasure Exercise 2012, and conducted maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the Mediterranean and Arabian Seas.
