Navy Gage and Standards Laboratory Manager Michael Wheeler of Naval Surface Warfare Center, Corona Division, shows a 102k Dead Weight Force Machine set with a load cell to Naval Sea Systems Command Warfare Centers Commander Capt. Thomas Dickinson, selected for promotion to rear admiral, during a tour of the Measurement Science and Technology Laboratory in Norco, California, Sept. 20, 2023. The machine is used by the lab to perform compression and tension tests, accurate to 0.0015% of indicated value, on a variety of load bearing devices such as load cells, dynamometers, force gauges, wheel scales, holdback bar standards, and proving rings.
