Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) Rainier ROCKS Inc., the newest chapter of Washington, D.C. ROCKS, Inc., awarded its first scholarship to Cadet Maicalewis Nacionales, Oct. 5, 2023, at JBLM Washington. Lt. Gen. Xavier Brunson, commander of America's First Corps and JBLM and senior mentor within the organization, presented the scholarship during its second annual meeting at the Lewis Army Museum.
JBLM Rainier ROCKS Inc. is a nonprofit organization missioned to provide mentorship, professional development and social interaction to strengthen the military officers' corps.
"This is a celebration for us as a chapter and, more importantly, to recognize and present a scholarship. This is the first scholarship we've ever presented," said Maj. Mikhail Jackson, executive officer to the 7th ID commanding general and member of the JBLM Rainier ROCKS organization. "I think [Rainer ROCKS] is important because we are mentoring and helping the next, future leaders. The only way we can do that is by networking and mentoring each other."
