SASEBO, Japan (OCT. 11, 2023) A firetruck from Commander, Naval Region Japan Fire & Emergency Services provides a fire hose to help combat a simulated fire onboard the forward-deployed amphibious assault carrier USS America (LHA 6) during an integrated industrial firefighting drill, Oct. 11. The drill, required by the Industrial Ship Safety Manual for Fire Prevention (8010), was created to train integrated teams of Sailors and base firefighters to respond to casualties in industrial environments. America, lead ship of the America Amphibious Ready Group, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations. U.S. 7th Fleet is the U.S. Navy’s largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, and routinely interacts and operates with allies and partners in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
