Jack Kenkeo, Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) life support investigator, screens through excavated soil during a recovery mission in Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Oct 15, 2023. Kenko supports each mission by using his expertise in LSI to look through found objects within the excavated soil to determine if any aircraft wreckage has been found. This can help determine the excavation process throughout each mission. Since 1985, the United States and Lao governments have worked closely together to find and recover unaccounted-for American service members. There are sill 288 missing Americans in Laos from the Vietnam War. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. David Owsianka)
