Donald Plazola, a M249 squad automatic weapon gunner assigned to Able Company, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, provides security during a North and West Africa Response Force (NARF) readiness exercise at Aviano Air Base, Italy on Oct. 09, 2023. The drills ensure readiness to execute the no-notice deployment capability of U.S. Africa Command’s NARF made up of elements of the 173rd Airborne Brigade and U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF), based in Vicenza, Italy.
