The city of Dongducheon hosted a Volunteer Festival at Citizen’s Park, Dongducheon, South Korea, Oct 14. USAG Yongsan-Casey Commander, Col. Loyd Brown and Dongducheon City Mayor Park, Hyung Deok attended to show support for the local community program creating a positive impact for the ROK/U.S. Alliance. The event included a ceremony with the pledge of allegiance to the nation followed by a VIP booth tour, an awards presentation, various performances, and a closing ceremony. The Dongducheon City Volunteer Center has been a long-time member of a Korea-American Cooperation Council between USAG Yongsan-Casey and the city of Dongducheon. Col. Brown and Mayor Park signed the Memorandum of Understanding last February to support the community’s program as a counterpart showcasing the strong bond between the two organizations. Camp Casey Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers, Army Community Service, Sexual Harassment/ Assault Response and Prevention programs and 2-20th Field Artillery Battalion were present to inform the public of a few Army programs and to familiarize the public with what certain military vehicles look like and how they perform in combat.
