USAG Yongsan-Casey Commander Col. Loyd Brown and Command Sgt. Maj. William Fritzinger hosted the annual Chuseok Luncheon at Yongsan’s Dragon Hill Lodge Sep. 14. The command hosted Seongnam City Mayor Shin Sangjin, Uijeonbu City Mayor Kim, Dong Keon and Yongsan-gu Mayor Ms. Park, Hee Young from surrounding partner cities. The command team also welcomed and thanked six Good Neighbor partners and key stakeholders who support service members and their families with cultural tours and community events throughout the year.
Chuseok (추석), or hangawi (한가위), is one of the biggest holidays in South Korea. It’s a time when families gather together to give thanks to their ancestors for an abundant autumn harvest. Sometimes called Korean Thanksgiving, Chuseok is celebrated with good food, wine, and family gatherings. It typically takes place in September or October, according to the lunar calendar.
