U.S. Soldiers, families, and guests of Task Force Marshall (TFM), 108th Training Command, U.S. Army Reserve, conduct a casing of the colors ceremony at the McCrady Training Center (MTC), Eastover, South Carolina Oct. 20, 2023. The casing of the colors is a traditional ceremony held by the United States Army from the earliest days of its history. The ceremony symbolizes a unit's deployment or redeployment from the home station to a new location for an extended amount of time. It can be associated with a specific mission, as well as serve as an act of preservation of the lineage for a deactivating unit. Since its activation at MTC in 2004, TFM trained and evaluated mobilized U.S. Navy Reservists in preparation for deployments in support of both U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) and U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).
