This #FortRileyFriday we continue our look at some of the first permanent buildings constructed on Marshall Army Airfield.
In 1934, 26 new quarters were built on #FortRiley : 14 on Main Post and 12 at the airfield. Among them were six houses for non-commissioned officers. These one-story structures (Quarters 755, 757, 759, 761, 765, 767 Durand Ct.) are faced with buff-colored brick to match the hangar constructed in 1932 (Hangar 741) that sits nearby. They were built around an open court, exemplifying the type of planning and construction that was popular at that time. These houses are still in use today as family quarters.
Did you or someone you know live in one of these quarters? Do you live there now? Let us know in the comments!
