Army Reserve’s 956th Movement Control Team assumes Europe mission

U.S. Army Capt. Christopher McDonald, commander of the 258th Movement Control Team serving in Europe under the Army Reserve’s 436th Movement Control Battalion’s Task Force Empire, shares his unit’s accomplishments during a transfer of authority ceremony with the 956th MCT at Forward Operating Site Jasionka, Poland, Oct. 27, 2023. Both movement control teams are among a multi-compositional array of units within 3rd Division Sustainment Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division working alongside NATO allies and regional security partners to provide combat-credible forces to V Corps, America's forward deployed corps in Europe. McDonald and Sgt. 1st Class Juan D. Smith, senior-most noncommissioned officer of the 258th MCT, cased their unit’s guidon and Capt. Aaron J. Morley and Sgt. 1st Class Carey L. Tanks Jr., the 956th MCT command team, uncased theirs, symbolically demonstrating the formal transfer of responsibility for the mission from one to another. Lt. Col Eric Waage, commander of the 436th MCB, congratulated the outgoing team for their accomplishment of a challenging mission and welcomed the incoming team as the reviewing officer of the ceremony. The 258th MCT is based in Fort Stewart, Georgia, as part of the 3rd Division Sustainment Brigade, and the 956th MCT deployed from Fort Sheridan, Illinois.
