In a June 30 basketball game, female U.S. troops deployed to Kuwait played against the only national female basketball team in Kuwait at a Camp Arifjan, Kuwait gym. The game, which finished with a last minute 38-37 victory for the Americans, was an initiative started by the section of cultural affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Kuwait. The department is designed to bring American culture to Kuwait, and the game was a way to bring the two cultures together through sports, said Mona A. Al-Hajjaj, cultural affairs assistant.
