A U.S. Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base’s, 354th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron is parked loaded with munitions at an undisclosed location in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility, Oct. 26, 2023. The A-10, also known as the Warthog, is the first aircraft in the U.S. Air Force’s inventory specifically designed for close air support to ground forces. They are simple, effective, and survivable twin-engine jet aircraft that can be used against light maritime attack aircraft and all ground targets, including tanks and other armored vehicles.
