U.S. Army Col. Leslie Oakes, assigned to the 30th Medical Brigade, 21st Theater Sustainment Command, prepares to conduct day-time land navigation in order to earn the Expert Field Medical Badge (EFMB) on November 6, 2023, at Grafenwohr South Land Navigation Course, Germany. Day and nighttime land navigation is the second step in competing for these badges. Testing takes one week, and pass rates are usually at or below 20% of the starting number of candidates seeking to earn their badge.
