Dr. Lauren Santini, a Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) Scientific Recovery Expert (SRE) and Forensic Archeologist, uses a Total Station during a recovery mission in Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Oct. 30, 2023. Total Stations are used for surveying to measure both vertical and horizontal angles and the slope distance from the instrument to a particular point in order to establish organized grids on recovery sites.
