NEWPORT, R.I. -- President of the U.S. Naval War College (NWC) Rear Adm. Pete Garvin welcomed the latest iteration of students for the Maritime Security & Governance Staff Course (MSGSC) November 8, 2023. Thirty-six students representing 35 nations serving in navies, coast guards, and maritime law enforcement commands around the world will spend five-months gaining the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively promote and achieve maritime security and good maritime governance in their national and regional waters. Established in 1884, NWC informs today’s decision-makers and educates tomorrow’s leaders by providing educational experiences and learning opportunities that develop their ability to anticipate and prepare strategically for the future, strengthen the foundations of peace, and create a decisive warfighting advantage.
