USS Kidd (DDG 100) Sailor Performs Freshwater Wash Down

231111-N-CW190-1078 PACIFIC OCEAN (Nov. 11, 2023) Damage Controlman 1st Class Andrew Hayes, from San Bernardino, California, participates in a freshwater wash down aboard Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Kidd (DDG 100) during Annual Exercise (ANNUALEX) 2023. Freshwater wash downs ensure all exterior spaces are rinsed to prevent salt corrosion. ANNUALEX is a multilateral exercise conducted by naval elements of the Royal Australian, Royal Canadian, Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, and U.S. navies to demonstrate naval interoperability and a joint commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific. Kidd, assigned to Carrier Strike Group ONE, is deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific.
