Xavier Drake, a base defense operations controller with the 97th Security Forces Squadron, drives a Humvee in a convoy from Fort Sill, Okla., to Altus Air Force Base, Okla., Jan. 3, 2013. Through multiple convoys, soldiers with the 31st Air Defense Artillery Brigade at Fort Sill drove more than two million pounds of equipment to Altus for a deployment to Turkey. The brigade was to deploy two of their unit's Patriot air defense missile batteries along the Turkish-Syrian border after the Turkish government requested assistance from NATO to augment Turkey's air defense capabilities against possible aggression by Syria.
