ANNAPOLIS, Md. (Nov. 16, 2023) U.S. Naval Academy Commandant of Midshipmen Col. James P. McDounough celebrates with the class of 2024 midshipmen from the 3rd Company receiving their service assignment. Upon graduation and commissioning in May, 74 percent will commission as U.S. Navy ensigns and 26 percent will commission as U.S. Marine Corps second lieutenants. As the undergraduate college of our country’s naval service, the Naval Academy prepares young men and women to become professional officers of competence, character, and compassion in the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps.
