Carl Lahti, Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Japan, Navy Region Japan, attended the 70th Verny-Oguri Memorial Ceremony in Yokosuka, Japan, to honor the enduring legacy of François Léonce Verny and Oguri Kozukenosuke Tadamasa. The ceremony commemorates the collaboration between Verny and Oguri in establishing the Yokosuka Arsenal, a cornerstone of Japan's naval modernization and a symbol of enduring Franco-Japanese friendship. For 75 years, CFAY has provided, maintained, and operated base facilities and services in support of the U.S. 7th Fleet's forward deployed naval forces, tenant commands, and thousands of military and civilian personnel and their families.
