A cake awaits Spc. Chris Anderson at his surprise welcome home ceremony at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Jan. 11. Anderson, who planned to return to Joint Base Lewis-McChord to surprise his men, was given a surprise of his own when nearly 40 soldiers from his company were waiting inside for him. Anderson lost his left leg after stepping on an IED June 12 in Maiwand province, Afghanistan. He is assigned to the 4th Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division
