The 105,153 square feet concrete hangar will protect six F-35 Lightening II fighter jets. The new concrete structure will be larger than the previous hangars that were destroyed by Hurricane Michael in 2018. Hanger 1 is the first of three hangars to be constructed and designed to be resilient against hurricane winds and storm surge. Construction is expected to be complete in August 2025.
