Secretary of the Air Force Michael Donley (left) presents the 2011 Zachary and Elizabeth Fisher Distinguished Civilian Humanitarian Service Award to Chris Sehman during a ceremony held in the Pentagon, Washington, Jan. 10, 2013. Sehman distinguished himself as a local community and business leader in the Florida Emerald Coast area. He served as an Honorary Commander for the 36th Electronic Warfare Squadron at Eglin Air Force Base, and the 1st Special Operations Wing at Hurlburt Field, Fla., and was a staunch advocate for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation and Wounded Warrior Program. Sehman helped to generate several hundred thousand dollars through fundraising efforts that directly benefited more than 30,000 members and their families living and serving throughout the Florida panhandle area. Also on hand for the award presentation was Crystal Fisher, the daughter of Fisher Foundation Chairman and CEO Ken Fisher. The award was established by the Department of Defense in 1996 to recognize an individual or organization demonstrating exceptional patriotism and humanitarian concern for members of the Armed Forces or their families. The award recipient must exemplify Zachary and Elizabeth Fisher's personal qualities of patriotism, generosity, and selfless dedication to improving the quality of life of members of the U.S. Armed Forces.
