Thelma (Leon) Gomez, mother of Sgt. 1st Class Jaime E. Contreras, receives a Drill Sergeant Campaign Hat from Sgt. Maj. SFC Contreras was assigned to Foxtrot Forward Support Company, 1st Battalion, 319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment as the Advance Culinary Non-Commissioned Officer before attending the Drill Sergeant Academy at Fort Jackson, S.C., where he passed away on June 13, 2023.
