Rear Adm. Jeffrey Czerewko, commander, Naval Education and Training Command, visited the Navy Recruiting Orientation Unit (NORU) on 05 December, 2023, to meet with senior leadership and engage with students.
Czerewko recognized the tremendous effort of Navy recruiters during Fiscal Year 2023, gaining 6,000 more contracted future Sailors than the previous year. He also encouraged these future recruiters to "take care of yourselves...morally, mentally, and physically."
"You're defining the future of the Navy," said Czerewko. "My job...is to remove barriers...so that you can do the job you're being trained to do."
The Navy Recruiting Orientation Unit (NORU) is the Navy’s sole recruiting schoolhouse responsible for the instruction of Enlisted and Officer personnel in professional sales, prospecting techniques, marketing, applicant processing, recruiting terminology, leadership, ethical behavior, and activity analysis. It also provides continuum training for the Navy’s Career Recruiting Force and prepares selected leaders for the challenges of operating a Navy Recruiting District (NRD).
