Alaska Army National Guardsmen with Charlie Company, 2nd Battalion, 641st Aviation Regiment, prepare a C-12J Huron for Operation Santa Claus passengers to safely exit the aircraft in front of the AKARNG aviation facility in Nome, Alaska, Nov. 30, 2023. From Nome, the journey continued 70 miles east via UH-60L Black Hawk helicopter to the Inupiat Eskimo village of Golovin. Operation Santa Claus is the Alaska National Guard’s yearly community outreach program that provides gifts and Christmas cheer to children in remote communities across the state.
