On Jan. 11, the first wave of Marine Attack Squadron 211 Wake Island Avengers arrived to volunteer at George Washington Carver elementary school as part of the squadron’s adoption program. Rotating every 20 to 30 minutes, Cpl. Rosa Sereno and Sgt. Brandon Allen spent time tutoring two students at a time. “It’s good to provide back to the youngsters these days,” said Allen, a VMA-211 embarkation specialist chief and a native of Keene, NH. “The kids are fun, they’re really smart kids. They always try.”
