231208-N-CW190-1046 PHILIPPINE SEA (Dec. 8, 2023) Ensign Isaac Ruse, from Delta Junction, Alaska, scrubs dirt off the ship’s exterior during a freshwater washdown aboard Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Kidd (DDG 100). Freshwater wash downs ensure all exterior spaces are rinsed to prevent salt corrosion. Kidd, assigned to Carrier Strike Group ONE, is deployed to U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations in support of free and open Indo-Pacific.
