COL Anthony Newtson, Deputy Director, Cyberspace Operations, U.S. Northern Command, welcomed COL. Héctor Maldonado Zepeda, Mexican Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), and CAPT Fernando Pineda Berdeja, Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR), and roughly 20 other leaders to Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado, to participate in a Command and Control Interoperability Board (CCIB) Dec. 4-6, 2023. Together the three leaders will direct the event to discuss communications operational compatibility requirements and technical solutions that align with established Bilateral Military Cooperation Roundtable objectives; provide USNORTHCOM, SEDENA, and SEMAR the opportunity to discuss training opportunities, lessons learned, and best practices. When not meeting in person, the members continue dialogues focused on information sharing, cybersecurity, and overall communications security. The inaugural CCIB was held on Jan. 21-22, 2017, in Mexico City, and subsequent CCIBs have been conducted twice annually since in Mexico and U.S. locations.
